My story focuses on a young lady named Tesha, who is driven by loneliness to be with a younger guy just because he is around rather than to wait for the love of her life to return from overseas. "Things of Love" is set in a middle class suburban area with the urban slang of black America. The book follows Tesha's joy of being with her new found love Jason. However, months after giving birth to their daughter, deceit, betrayal, and malice begin to destroy their relationship. Along with his secret affairs, Jason's physical and verbal abuse leads to destruction. Once Tesha finds out Jason has tested positive for HIV/AIDS what do you think she will do next?
With the recent issues in society with HIV/AIDS and awareness organizations I believe "Things of Love" is a great book and it would also be a perfect movie for the "BIG SCREEN". This story involves love, family, loyalty, relationships and the obstacles of overcoming the will to fight for life. Many young adults, adults and rising generations may be dealing with some of these issues and will find common ground with the characters in this story. "Things of Love" will also appeal to a larger audience through the humor and romance that will enlighten and give hope although the devastating tragedy.
